Tamron 28-200mm vs. Nikon Nikkor 28-105mm

So I recently bought a used Nikon D100 with a Nikon AF Nikkor 28-105mm. I am in the process of selling my dad's Nikons N80 and N6006. One has a Tamron AF 28-200mm lens, the other has a Nikon Nikkor AF 35-70mm lens. These are both fairly old cameras (hence they are film), so the lenses are older too. Would you suggest that I switch out my 28-105mm that I recently bought for the Tamron 28-200mm and then sell the 28-105mm with the film cameras? I am nervous that although it has better range, it may not be as up-to-date at the one I already have. Also, would you recommend that I sell the lenses separate from the cameras? I would normally sell them together if they were digital cameras, but I am afraid that more people may want to by lenses than 35mm film cameras. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Tamron 28-200mm vs. Nikon Nikkor 28-105mm

Check out the reviews section on this site. The lenses you mention are old but the reviews go back for years so you can see what people thought of them on film which gives you an idea of what they will be like on DSLR. The D100 has the same sensor as the D70 and I found my film lenses worked quite well with the D70.

Reading through the reviews - the Nikon 28-105 was a professional's standard for years. There are 139 reviews of it and it gets very good scores. There have been many generations of the Tamron 28-200 and the early ones have few reviews and poor scores. If I were you I would hang onto the 28-105 rather than the Tamron.

My impression is that people want to buy lenses but not film bodies. You might find that your bodies are worth very little.

Not buying any more gear this year. I hope
