What more do you want in DX? The range of the 18-35 is already more than covered by the 10-24. No market for pro lenses in DX any more (unless they produce the D400)

Nikon is filling out it's offer of modern lenses for the FX line:

    - the very expensive f2.8 constant zooms for the D4
    - the still pretty expensive f4 constant zooms for the D800
    - the variable aperture fairly economical lenses for the D600

I know one thing for sure at this years Rolex 24 FX's were in short supply unless you were a working photog. I saw more DX's than you could shake a stick at . Maybe coincedence or theres been a change in the market

What's Rolex? (apart from the watch)
What sort of DX's did you see?
Nobody doubts that DX is going to continue (Canon's CEO just committed more or less to producing a 70D which is the equivalent of the D7000). But these advanced-amateur cameras do not quite have the performance of the low-end pro models (Canon 7D, Nikon D300s).
Nikon already make lots of different DX lenses. It's difficult to see what they could add to their range.

I would like to see a 24-120, however, the 24-120 f4 apparently does a very good job when used with the d7000 according to some users. Guess the soft corners becomes a non issue with a dx camera. I struggle with the $1250.00 price tag. A higher quality 50-200 dx would also be nice as the 70-200 f4 is too heavy. It's like from one extreme to another.

wasnt really arguing the point of needing more lenses . Just think the market is changing.

    OK got that.

If you were in a general-public area then it's normal that you were seeing the consumer DSLR's. The pros are all out on the track with long teles. You might even have spotted the new 800mm..

My next opportunity to camera-count will be the Chinese New Year parade in Paris in a couple of weeks. I shall be looking out for:

    - confirmation that the pros are no longer using DX format DSLRs
    - the arrival (finally) of hybrids in the hands of consumers instead of DX DSLR's which have been massively dominant up till now

The market in each country is different. I think that hybrids are much more popular in Japan than in France (judging by the Japanese tourists in Paris)
