    Nikon D750 announcement

Nikon have announced the D750. It's here :

    D750 D-SLR | Digital SLR camera

I find this announcement interesting. It has some of the features that consumers like (program modes) but combined with high-performance features that pros like (51 point autofocus, 6.5 frames/second). Plus it's much smaller than the D800. I might be tempted - if I didn't have the D7100..

I should get my hands on one at the Paris Photo Show next month.

There was also a new 20mm f1.8 and a small flash with a swivelling head (at last)

    Re: Nikon D750 announcement

To me, a full framed $2000+ camera with consumer program modes like sunny day mode, etc., is just silly. But who knows: maybe there's consumers out there who know little about photography, and really want a high-performance camera?

    Re: Nikon D750 announcement

I think that the D750 replaces the D610 (which was a bugfix release for the D600). A mid-life kicker for the bottom-of-the-range FX camera.

Nikon shut themselves out of the professional market with the D600/D610 and its 39-point AF system, low frame rate. With the D750 the specifications are now just fine for professionals (compare with the Canon 5DMk3) plus it has the "successor to the D700" name. But it should still appeal to amateurs with its easy-to-use features
