Nikon D1x "CHA" Error with new CF Card
I bought two Transcend 16gb compact flash cards for my D1x and my D100. They read fine in the D100 but when I put them into the D1x I get a "CHA" error on the display and finally an error that reads something like We Can't Use This Card on the screen. I put the older 2gb card in, and it reads that one fine and dandy.
Did I buy too big of a card? Does the D1x have a size limit? I find this hard to believe as it works in the D100 - which is of the same time period but for a slightly less professional level.
Any suggestions would be great. Thanks in advance,
DLS

That is an interesting problem. Maybe you should contact Nikon's technical support. If you go to their website http://www.nikonusa,.com you may find the answer there. If not, you may have to talk to someone in the phone. Good Luck!
Re: Nikon D1x "CHA" Error with new CF Card
The D1x might have a card size limit on it. It looks like the D1x came out in 01, while the D100 came out in 02. There could have been a change within that year. The largest I ever put into my D1h was a 2gig card, and it worked perfectly.
Re: Nikon D1x "CHA" Error with new CF Card
Something about FAT16 vs FAT32 if I remember correctly - older cameras were FAT16 like my Fuji S2, and 2GB was the max.

CRAP! The D1x DOES use FAT16!
But, it's good to know. I will return these cards immediately.
Thank you so much for the information!
