    Is this legitimate?

I am in the market for a body only Nikon D80. With a quick google search there are a few very cheap deals for a new D80 for around $300. For example, http://www.expresscameras.com/prodet...0700&display=2 . This is less then half the price of a listed camera. I was wondering if anyone here has any experience with sites like these and could recommend a cheap but safe place to buy. I am willing to spend more then $300 for a body but it would be nice to purchase a new D80 for as cheap as possible.

If sites like this are legitimate how can they afford to run thier business like that?

If you see an offer like that these are the following steps you should take.

1: Laugh and make a derisive comment about the website.

2: Hit back on your browser.

3: Go to a real camera seller, like one of the sellers partnered with this website.

If it sounds too good to be true, it is!!

The internet is full of bait and switch camera dealers. Check out the Dealer Feedback Forum and see what others have had to say about the great prices they find on the web. Then go to B&H or Adorama and get your camera at a fair price from a company that you can trust.

Always check reseller ratings . com and don't trust the store ratings elsewhere.
Here's a link to what the ratings are for express camera ...not a place i'd buy from

    Re: Is this legitimate?

I am also in the market for a D80 and have yet to find a legitimate site that offers it for under about $800. I use the reseller ratings website to check out all online stores. It really helps. You can find it at: http://www.resellerratings.com/rlist-s1-n2.html

    Good luck,

    Re: Is this legitimate?

I bought mine from these guys:

    http://www.shopdigitalcorp.com/default.asp

decent enough shop, great product, but the shipping was very slow -- two weeks for ground shipping. My camera has seen more of the country that I have. ;) They have an assortment of packages with some cheepie/freebies thrown in. If you order from them do it over the phone and have them throw in two day shipping. The free two day shipping advertised on their EBAY store doesn't apply on EBAY orders --just phone orders.

Oh yeah, I love my D80! I need to get a bigger hard drive for my computer because I'm shooting so many photos now.
