ProOptic 500 mm mirror lens

I just purchased the ProOptic 500 mm f 6.3 mirror lens featured in Popular Photography March 2009 issue. Paid 160 dollars plus 35 dollars shipping to Canada. I hope it isn't a waste of money

But then you seem to be able to make good use of dirty windows and toy microscopes so I won't be surprised if you find good use for it.

Hi Don,
I have a 500mm reflex lens.
I bought it back in the late 70's for my first nikon 35mm.

They are tons of fun. A bit tricky to focus do to the narrow DOF
but with practice you will suprise yourself.

With my 500mm and a 1.4x tele
iso100 3 second shot and PP of course.
Moon and Venus

I have a 500 f 8.0 lens, off brand, that I paid ~ $100 for in the late 80s. I guess for that price it's OK but the DOF being f 8.0 limits what you can do. I haven't actually used it in at least 4 or 5 years!
