Did Nikon seem to indicate who the target market or audience would be? From the 3 released commercials, appears the focus may be the casual (outdoorsman?) photographer.

Hmmmm, after studying the CameraEgg info, details from their site: the looks more like an F3 but claims of FM2 design, "DF" designation from "digital fusion", smaller retro full frame hybrid camera; no video mode, not mirrorless despite timed release after Sonys A7/A7r mirrorless full frame; the three commercials have an outdoors "focus". Lots of good info on the CameraEgg. Nikon Facebook supposed to have lots of good info as well.

This info is not mine, just regurgitated insight from CameraEgg.

It's coming for certain. No one seems to know what the price will be yet.

I think it's for purists. No gimmicks. People who mostly use:

- prime lenses
- manual focus
- manual exposure

This means people who really know what they are doing. The sort of person who used to use a film Leica M (the digital ones have got to be too expensive). My guess is that the price would be about the same as the D800 (got to pay for that low-volume D4 sensor)

Doesn't interest me. I need all the automatic help that I can get.

Afterthought: As to why Nikon brought out this one - it's getting close to two years since the D4 release. Everyone who is going to buy a D4 has done it already. The production line in Sendai must be pretty quiet so to occupy people - well last time they did the D700 which did very well and they hotted up the D3 to produce a D3s but I don't think that sold too well. This time - do something different, might sell a few of them before its time to get ready for the D5

how is the viewfinder?
the shuter is quieter?
liveview is usable for mf?
