D70 Reliability

Have had the D70 for about a year.Without known Trauma,the lens broke away from the camera (mounts on both sides) and now the LCD display is broken.I am apprehensive about spending the money to repair again and question the camera's durability.Is this typical?

I've had mine for about 2 years now (I think 2, maybe 3) and i've had no problems with it (knock on word).

I sent it in to get checked out before the warranty went out, and on the repair slip that I got back, it just had a clean & check everything. My D70 has fallen from a tripod height onto concrete, taken mountain biking many times, crashed on it once or twice, and has held up perfectly.

Its the first time I've heard about the lens mounts breaking on the D70. If its still under the warranty, Nikon hopefully will fix it for free :D

Had mine since May 04 and never had a problem.

Not typical in the least!
