    Nikon D40X Digital SLR Camera Body

    Hi

    I am buying a Nikon D40X Digital SLR Camera Body.I also have a nikon F65 film camera WITH A NIKKOR 28-80 LENS .My question is will my NIKKOR 28-80 fit and fully fuction in the D40X

    I don't think so, I'm pretty sure the D40x requires AF-s style lenes. This means there is no screw motor to turn the autofocus, however you might be able to focus manually, but don't quote me on that.

    it will mount and meter, but not autofocus.

    The 28-80mm in question is generally quite a poor lens, among the lowest quality lenses Nikon has produced, and the focal length range on digital is lackluster to say the least. I would suggest that if you wish to have a lens that will fully function on the D40x, you purchase the 18-55mm DX II AF-S kit lens (same field of view range as your 28-80mm, same apertures, with very good image quality), or if you are willing to go a bit further, the 18-70mm DX AF-S which is a superior lens. Alternatively, the AF-S 18-135mm lens is also a good performer.
