Re: White-Throated Sparrow.
Wow, Knight - those sparrow images are great! That new toy of yours seems to be a nice fit. VR to boot!
Looking forward to seeing more from that lens.
Re: White-Throated Sparrow.
Great shots Knight!, i love that whitethroated Sparrow, excellent DOF which shows this little birds colours off brilliantly.
The Osprey is terrific, looks like a beautiful day when this was taken.
Glad your enjoying the new toy it looks like you feel at home with it!
Re: White-Throated Sparrow.
Bev ,Loupey ,thanks for your kind words of encouragement , Learning curve for this lens is really a no brainer , its almost like using a point and shoot :) One thing that i have to adjust to is using 300mm range instead of my 400mm Sigma . I have a 2x Tcon its a Tamron it was given to me by the guy that sold me my Sigma , he had no use for it . It wont auto focus im thinking about getting a Kenko Pro 1.4 or maybe a 1.7 but probably the 1.4x it has good reviews and is suppose to Auto focus with my 70-300. I think both of you are using 1.4 x Tcons ,am i right ?
Re: White-Throated Sparrow.
I have the 2x only. On a 70-300mm, I would recommend only the 1.4x as the 2x would make this combo too slow (aperture) and push the limits of the resolution/contrast of your zoom.
Still, a 98-420mm with VR should be awesome.
Re: White-Throated Sparrow.
Wow Knight, I love the sparrow shot's!
Re: White-Throated Sparrow.
Thanks for taking the time Copy :)
Re: White-Throated Sparrow.
Beautiful shots! Love the osprey. Looks like a nice lens, I have a Sigma 70-300mm and use a Kenko 1.4x TC with it. Auto focus still works good and I'm satisfied with it, till I eventually upgrade to a prime lens...
Re: White-Throated Sparrow.
Thanks Quetzal , the Osprey was taken with a Sigma 400mm , the 2 Sparrow shots with the 70-300mm VR . The Kenko 1.4 TC is high on my list of thing to get :)

Re: White-Throated Sparrow.
Ok i think this is the female White-Throated Sparrow because the male gets quite arroused by her presence or maybe hes a he of another breed i dont know . Paulnj do you have a ID for me pls :)
Re: White-Throated Sparrow.
I am going to have to say you have a rufous colored song sparrow that is very odd for that area from my limited knowledge of ontario. The more red colored ones are usually in the southwest and song sparrows usually have a greyer cheek base color.
