    Cardinal

First thing that I have had in ages that is remotely good enought to post on this forum. You guys have just been blowing me away with the quality of your post. I took this with the new baseball lens the Nikkor 300 f4 with the Kenco 1.4 extender.

Ah, I was hoping that you would start shooting/posting nature-stuff with that new 300mm of yours.

Nice shot. Interested in seeing how you will like the 300mm prime.

Thanks Loupey. I am loving the 300 prime thus far. I haven't gotten a chance to give it a real N&W workout yet but I hope to soon. Here are a couple of more from yesterday afternoon with the 300. Didn't nail them but I wasn't totally bummed either.

Thanks very much. I'm having fun getting use to the 300. Hopefully the images will improve as I get more familiar with it.

The 300 f4 seems to be very well regarded by many Nikon shooters. I'm sure you'll love it.

Thanks AE. Although this is the older version of the lens (read cheaper) I think it was a very good investment Form initial indications is going to be more versatile than I had thought.

    OT,

Wonderful shots of the bee and the cardinal.

Still waiting for the little criters to wake up around our area.

    Nice bee shots.

I have a 300mm Nikon and use it with a 1.4 teleconverter. It makes for a pretty good combination. It is right on the edge of my hand held capibilities (for bird photography)though.

I agree it is at the outer limits for me as well.

I'm looking for a new lens and some people have mentioned the 300 f4 lens to me. Looks like a really nice lens, too bad they are hard to find used.

I got mine at KEH and at the time they had three. You might check their web site. Mine as I have stated before is the older version rather than the AF-S I really think the glass is superior to the new one.

You know when I pulled the trigger on the 300mm it was a kind of spur of the moment thing. I had looked at them on EBay and at a couple of used sites and had kind figured I would wait a while. I was sitting eating lunch one day and just made up my mind that today was the day. I came in found one on KEH and placed the order before I had a chance to talk myself out of it.

    Old Timer,

I think you did a great job on all three shots. I was in Minnesota a few weeks ago and saw cardinals, but couldn't come close to something like this. Great job.

Thanks CF I liked the way that Cardinal came out for me. Wouldn't have been possible without the new 300mm.
