What type of Woodpeckers are these?
I shot this at work today or yesterday now. I know this is a video but I'll post some pics when I get rested up :blush2: I don't recall seeing so many together in one spot before.

WOW what an opportunity. I wish I could find 4 or 5 of them at once like that. My guess is going to be that they are Hairy WP's but I have been known to be wrong in the WP category. With no red on the chin/neck and only the rad head, smaller than a Sapsucker and larger than a Downy with no white bars on the tail.
/crosses fingers .. maybe this one time I will finally get one right lol.
Re: What type of Woodpeckers are these?
acorn woodpecker also called the "clown woodpecker".
they got the acorn name for the food bank they build by drilling holes in trees as well as fence posts and old wwoden barns and building and storing acorns in them .
they got the "clown " name for their markings.

Awesome! Thanks for the ID  I really have to work on the cropping & resizing thing to retain the quality. These weren't really good shots to began with as the lighting kept constantly changing on me and I could've been a bit closer. Here goes.

Such a pretty little bird. Where were you when you saw them?

I saw them yesterday in the Danville area which is in the East Bay.

Yeah, we get them as far north as Northwest Oregon. But then, I have an estuary out my back door with several dead trees still standing, so they have a pretty cozy living area here.
