Those photos are crisp and clean, but how about posing your prey on something like a stick or a leaf? To be honest, your fingers don't exactly make the shots. You'd be surprised how easily you can fake a natural backdrop in a macro setting, since the DoF is so small. You obviously have the ability to take good photos, and I think that you would be even happier with them if you took the next step to put them into natural context.

edit: a good backdrop doesn't need to be natural looking either, a piece of uniform cloth or a tile from home despot work pretty well. My favorite unnatural backdrop is fake leather, works nicely with the textured skins of bugs and herps.

Those are tiny! Found myself looking at my fingers to imagine how small these are :p

Yeah, not too fond of the fingers and black background. But, at the same time, difficult to express their sizes without a recognizable reference point.

Erik's advice on backgrounds are good. I can't add any to his as I don't shoot any macros in controlled situations.

Agree that without the fingers you will really never know how small they are, of course there are other props which can be used too. Great shots.

    Thanks y'all!
I think I need to change the crop on #s 1 & 2 so that there is less of my finger visible. I kinda like a black background as it really makes the subject stand out. Not always, of course, but on these pics I thought it worked well.

    Thanks again for the feedback,
