    Snakes and stuff
I’ve been trying not to crop my images, so the comps may not be the best. All of these are un-cropped.

Don’t know what kind of snakes these are (there were a lot of them out today)…

    A couple of turtles…

    Just a frog….

    http://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l4...8/_MG_0859.jpg

    A wild flower…

A red squirrel giving me the bird…

    http://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l4...8/_MG_0921.jpg

Couldn’t shade this fly, so the light is kind of harsh…

    http://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l4...8/_MG_0968.jpg

And the biggest wild turtle I’ve ever seen. Its head was about the size of an outstretched hand (the image isn’t very good)…

I need some chest-waders, these would have been much better if I could have gotten in the water. Thank you for looking.

That a lot of variety today - nice to see so much out and about.

I like the first snake shot (with the 2) and the whole line of turtles on the log is hillarious!

Nice going. Fly and bees shot with 300mm and tubes?

Thanks Loupey, yup, used the 300mm and tubes. I think I'll buy a dedicated macro lens this coming weekend (if I can make up my mind on which one), the tubes really help... but the length of the lens + tubes is just a bit too much. I missed a lot of shot's because of the time it took to find my subject and to focus... I'm hoping a dedicated lens will change that.

And thank you Erik. I have a new found respect for your ability to make snake images look good... I tried these from every angle I could imagen, and these were the best I could come up with.

Lol they are very good insitu shots.

i love the turtle one. and that flower is a red trillium sometimes known as a wake robin

if you want to make northern water snakes look nice, flip em over and shoot their bellys they have beautiful markings underneith.

Nice shots, large variety of stuff for one day, spring good time to be out :)

but how on earth did you get so close to all those pluck plucks in #4, and ya thats what I call them as thats all I ever here/see. even with my 430mm cant get close enough has to be one of the most timid creatures i have seen, if one goes they all do.

I have even camped out sitting near the log as still as possible for some time waiting for them to come up they pop there heads up look about then take off, they have some good peepers too

Wow what a brilliant days shooting you had, love the snake shots, #1 is excellent, DOF and background colouring really shows your subjects perfectly and the red trillium details is spot on. Great series Copy.

    Thank you Rumrak and Bev.

Rumrak, I guess I just got lucky. I tried to get closer to them and as soon as they heard a twig snap, they went like a row of domino's.

I went fishing in an area where there were snakes hanging in the trees, hundreds of them, and more in the water....I'd never do that again, and I certainly wouldn't get in the water with them

    I like the lined up turtles....ready, set......GO!

Alligators and cotton mouths are as afraid of you, as you are of them :D I wouldn't get in the water in Florida either (lol).
