    Plethodon richmondi

So i realized i didn't have any really good shots of a ravine salamander, so today while i was out in the field i decided to try and get some before the rain hit. let me know what you think.... and threw a decent 2 line shot in there to. i had to use the flash to get the gold specks to show up, which is pretty hard to do even with flash.

I like #2 and #3 because of the curves.

I feel your shots are too "overhead". I think sitting or laying on the ground to get eye level would make them feel more intimate (like the last one). The strobe is also too close to the camera as it is producing a flat image.

I would recommend shooting low, and holding the flash high to produce a more 3-dimensional image.

Heh all but number 3 i was kneeing down on the ground, with the lense about 4 inches from the groud, resting on my closed fist to stabalize it. and well the flash is the on camera flash so not much i can do there.

i don't think its physically possible to get the camera any lower than these (except 3 and maybe 2) as these were all shot as found (lifted up cover board and they just sat there because it was cold).

these guys are only about 2 inches long btw.

thanks for the feed back though.
