    Sitting Pretty

I have never seen a duck like this, so I am thrilled to have captured its image.

Nice shot CF. This is a male wood duck. (My favorite of the ducks) I love the colors and the markings on these birds. Not the easiest birds to get close to which makes nice photos of them all the more rewarding.

    Michael,

Thanks very much for the comments and for identifying the bird. I had not gotten around to doing that so I appreciate it very much. Just spectacular markings to this bird. I love it.

Very nice, CF! Love the detail and water colors.

Not a fan of your crop - bit too tight on top and bottom. The head is too centered IMO.

Any chance you can post a full frame image for us?

    Loupey/Bev:

Thanks very much. Yes it is a good feeling. I saw this bird and couldn't believe what I was seeing; wild colors, streaks of definition, and it makes the tiniest little squeek instead of the honking bark of other ducks.

Loupey: sure thing, I will post the full image. As you will see there are distractions that I felt ruined the shot. But, let me know what you think. Also, I wanted the ripples in the water ahead of the duck. This was an illusive subject as well, very shy and hard to get near. I got lucky with what I got.
