I went out again today to St. Andrews State Park. It's springtime and the critters are all making ready to make more critters.
All of these are using my D5000 and Nikon's 70-300 VR lens, except the one wide shot, which is the 18-55 kit lens.
I don't remember seeing this kind of dragonfly before, weird pattern on the back wings.
The lake at the park, with the island in the center which serves as a nesting ground for egrets and blue herons. The wind died down for about 30 seconds, just long enough to let the water sit still.
Egret gathering nesting material.
Another egret in flight, headed to the trees to break off some twigs.
A blue heron heading out.
I don't know what this bird is actually called scientifically, but locally we call them skimmers.
For some reason.
Lucky shot. I saw him fly in from the corner of my eye, and he was only there two seconds and flew off again.
Oh, yeah: the lake is called "Gator Lake."
Everybody get a picture!
