Another Saturday at the Nature Center (image heavy)

Some shots other than the Creeper's in the other post

I spotted my Red Tail, but he was pretty far away

One more, also a fairly crappy shot, but I like the wind blowing his feathers. Manually focused, 300mm with a 2x tc

    Downy

    Juncos

One of two Coopers Hawk's circling way way up.

    Black Cap

Glorified pigeon... Actually I do find Mourning Doves quite pretty.

Not a great shot, but I love the wings. These two female downys were squabbling. Do they fight over mates? There was a rather aloof male at the top of the tree.

    Another downy

This one was picking bits of suet that had fallen from the feeder.

Blue Jay! One of two I saw. We haven't had Blue Jay's around since west nile killed them all off a few years ago.

Maple syrup time. The nature center makes their own maple syrup and has a weekend maple syrup festival where you can see them boiling the sap down over a huge brick firepit. These are buckets used to collect sap.

And of course, Deer. I hope I don't make you all too sick of the deer, but they're always there to shoot. These are part of the herd that lives outside the preserve (it's fenced and due to the overpopulation, they keep the gates closed). There were several does and their yearlings around the rock fountain.

These youngsters today, talking back to their mothers...

These were a group of two does and three yearlings that were in front of the nature center building, just outside the fence. One of the does was clearly lame... Hopefully she heals up... There are some predators around (coyotes) but not enough that she might not be hobbling about for the next year if it's something bad.

Great shots Cara, and no I'm not tired of deer. I see their tracks all the time but seldom see more than a flash of tail as they disappear into the bush. I'd love to get some shots of them.

    Thanks Everyone

Armando-- The deer lying down I really like, but have my doubts about since he's a little soft in the face (focus was more on his rear I think). I'm glad someone else also liked it.

I'm going to try and go to the festival. They take groups out and have kids hand drill a tap in a tree now and again, but I don't know if that'll be any time I can be there (silly work, always getting in the way of my hobby ).

I like the black and white head shot the best. Sweet!
