Rocky Mountain Bighorn Sheep
Re: Rocky Mountain Bighorn Sheep
Excellent shots. Hard to pick a favorite. I guess I like the sixth and the last one best. They are all great though.
Re: Rocky Mountain Bighorn Sheep

Cause its actually a two-headed sheep.

Nope it only has one head, but you are close.
Have a good one. BB
Re: Rocky Mountain Bighorn Sheep
there is a second sheep very close to the one on the foreground, we can see the neck and ears ...
I really like 3,4,6
Re: Rocky Mountain Bighorn Sheep
those must be young males, or else in a much less harsh environment than here. All the full curles here have splintered tips to their horns.
Nice shots.
Re: Rocky Mountain Bighorn Sheep
armando is correct. The lamb's mother is just behind, thus the odd look. And yes Dylan they are young rams. I never saw a decent ram the whole time I was there, but hunting season was still going on and that could have been part of the reason.
Young rams have what they call "lambs tips" which is the end of the horn. As they age, most rams rub those off on the brush and rocks giving a look and a term they call "broomed off".
I was shooting photos of two small rams and a few ewes, when this ram swam a nearby river and came running in to take over the band. Look how wet he is.
Have a good one. BB
