Rising Hunter's Moon
I went out last night and got this shot in the window between the moonrise and darkness setting in. We made a family outing of it and my son got some nice shots which was fun to see him get excited about too. There was also a prenumbral lunar eclipse happening where the moon passes into the softer edges of the Earth's shadow. The effect was pretty subtle but still visible; the top of the moon is lighter than the rest.
I used Photographer's Ephemeris to get things lined up before the moon was visible.

That's the name of the game isn't it? I've been turned back by conditions trying to get this very shot in the past. That makes it extra sweet when you do finally get it!

Re: Rising Hunter's Moon
Beautiful photo, Matt! The Featured Photo is well-deserved with this one. It's a great example of a well-planned photo where everything came together. Love it!
Do you mind if I share it in the PhotographyREVIEW.com Facebook page Featured Photos album?
