    Wolly Bears

    We have called these wolly bears growing up but as you know that can not be the real name. Maybe someone knows out here. Below is the link, Thanks, Judy

    thats what we call them around here.

    ive been looking for them this year though, and haven't found any ( at least when i had my camera), and only like 1-2 w/o it.

    I have seen TONS of these this year. Isn't there an old wifes tale in regards to these? If you see a lot of them it's going to be a long hard winter or something like that. We have always called them woolly bears. They turn into an isabella moth.

    We just called them wooly caterpillars and the length/severity of winter was said to be predicted by the width of the center stripe. - TF
