Predictably Unpredictable

Despite it being nearly 90 degrees today, I went for a short hike (in my office dress slacks and shirt) because I had a small window of opportunity.

I went looking for the owl and pileated w.p. - long walk, no luck.

Then, in a spurt of just over 30 minutes, I get these.

I'm so happy to see my first Baltimore Oriole and my first clear shot of a Summer Tanager (I saw one a week ago; but haven't seen him since, until today). Now I know what they both sound like.

Yeah, that oriole was really singing up a (pretty) storm. I had heard one earlier but never could get even a glimpse of him in the trees. This one popped out of his original tree and landed in this bare one. Still pretty far away. Hope to see one up close!
