    More of the same

Here are a couple more pics of the doe by the pond that I posted a couple weeks ago. With my camera in the shop, I haven't been able to do much shooting. Not that I want to be out in the woods right now with all the hunters anyway. I wonder if this little lady is still around, or if she's on her way to someones freezer.

Only if I had a death wish. The guys who leased this piece of land for hunting this year are the biggest rednecks in the area. One of the guys hunting out there accidently shot a girl a couple years ago during gun season. She was in her HOUSE when she was shot. I'm staying a long way away from there while the gun season is open. Once that closes, I'll be back out there.

That's terrible! The girl probably raised her hands to the side of her head to do the "nana-nana-boo-boo" to her kid brother and the "hunter" figured that was close enough to antlers.

Perhaps someone should strap a pair of antlers onto the top of his car...

    Re: More of the same

I quit hunting long ago due to the idiots out in the woods .... something about hundreds of thousands of guys, that get totally drunk the night before till the wee hours of the morning, getting up and grabbing a high powered rifle and heading into the woods .... just not a good combination there ....

    Re: More of the same

I quit hunting several hears ago too. I have nothing against it, and I loved doing it. Once my brother and I were old enough to go on our own, dad quit going with us. It seemed to have lost a lot of what I enjoyed about hunting without dad being there. For me, the best part of deer hunting when I was a kid was the food. We would get up early and go out for breakfast. Then we would go sit in the woods till we got cold. After that we would drive around the back roads looking for deer, and looking to see what other people had in the back of their trucks. Eventually would would find our way to the bowling alley or the Green Lantern (a bar) for a soda and some chili. All the bars in our area served chili on opening weekend and it's something I always looked forward to. Ahhh, the good ole days...

Michael - sounds like some wonderful memories you have - thanks for sharing it with us.

Isn't it great that sometimes the journey itself is better or at least more memorable than the destination itself? Wonderful memories I have of time spent with my dad.

I love the way you've captured the reflection of the doe in the water Mike. Great image.
