    Pileated Woodpecker
Haven't posted much in the N&W forum lately but did get an image this weekend that I liked of a Pileated Woodpecker. Started watching him from afar and he finally worked his way into the range of my 300mm.

Like it - a lot!! Patience proving its virtue?? Can you name the tree - Berries look somewhat like our local Syringa?

Nice shot of a wary species, OT!

I'm always on the lookout for one.

Thanks for the looks. I felt very lucky to get this close. I have wanted a good pic of a pileated woodpecker for a long time.

Nice, a few years ago we had one of those bad boys in our yard, it only took him a couple days to rip a tree to shreds hunting for bugs. It was amazing to see the size of stuff he was tearing off...nice shot

Nice shot - I find Pileateds tough to get decent shot of one.
