    I thought these guys from the lowlands were pretty cool. I've seen them several times before but had a pretty cool opportunity in April with one that was coming in to a fruit feeder :-)

    Great photo, as usual, Glenn. This is a very interesting and quirky looking bird. It kinda looks like one our North American woodpeckers - but not quite. I like the red crown (if that's what you call it).

    Technically, I'd like to know more about how you shot this. I think you usually use that 500mm f/4 + 1.4x tele-extender setup. Is that right? How far away were you when you shot this and how much cropping did you do to get this composition?
