Old Wile E is still hanging around. Trappers are trying to get him since the people in the area are freaking out....go figure. I guess the disappearance of local cats played into it a bit..

It was nice to see a Coyote in the City!!!

Eric, nice images...I wish them good luck with trapping them. The old saying about rats -"where you see one, there are probably 50 more" is also true for coyotes. The city I live in and and a number of cities in Western Canada and probably the Western US, have an indigenous population of coyotes - the estimate for my city is about 500 - they inhabit the river valleys and large parks and have been known to show up on golf courses and even school yards when there is nobody around. People don't actively feed them to my knowledge - no need to - but they do sometimes feed them without knowing - they leave dog food in a dish on the back porch and the coyotes will come after that - they easily intimidate all but the biggest dogs and of course if there is more than one then the dog doesn't stand a chance. The experience here has been that if you do trap them, then others simply move in to take their place - it is a losing battle. Coyotes are strong, healthy, leary of people for the most part and very intelligent. They will go after cats, small dogs and in packs will go after bigger dogs and small deer - so again - good luck to those who want to try and trap them...

I have seen more than one story on cnn about them atacking people. In conn their encounters with people is more with going after their pets.they have their place in nature but when they move into citys they seem to become a bit more bold and dangerous. And any time people begin feeding preditors it will often leed to that animals death.

We have a pretty healthy coyote population in Laguna Niguel. The population slimmed down for a couple years, but I've been seeing more and more rabbits this year so that means the coy population will be growing again as well. If I ever see any during the daylight hours, I'll snap a couple pics and post 'em up as well.

In conn. they were eliminated from the state just like the wild turkey but they both made a come back. the turkeys were help by man the coyote did it on his own just like the moose and black bear. so they did move back! I have seen them in the wild and it was somthing i will not forget how special it was . I dont hate or want to kill any of them. was just saying what i have seen on the news conn.

I think the point we were making was that it is humans that have encroached into their space, not the coyotes moving into ours. I didn't take what you said as wanting to kill 'em.
