My first macro shots.

Please feel free to critique and give advice.

Until I actually started shooting with this lens did I realize why I'm going to need a tripod.

These are my very first attempts. All advice wanted and more then welcome! :)

Gorgeous first attempts JETA! I assume these are with the 100mm f2.8 lens. Unless your name is Loupey most of us need the help of a tripod when working in slow and close. I hope you have found a new second love in photography with macro work. It can be very rewarding and fulfilling to fill the frame with a very small object. Maybe not as exciting as catching a quarterback sack or a touch down pass but still very rewarding. Welcome to the world of Macro.

Thank you OT! You know I was laughing over macro vs. football. Instead of taking 10 fps I'm taking one pic in 10 minutes. I was so ignorant thinking macro was point and shoot. Whoa. How wrong I was. At least with macro I won't be tackled and break my leg and head again. ;)

I think you did great Jeta! They are all very nice. This makes me wat to strap on the 100mm f/2.8 and start shooting some macros.

Very nice, JETA, and for the first foray into macro to boot!

You'll find that macro is a whole world (photographically) onto itself. A world some enter and never return :D

I like your last shot the most. It is clean, simple, and direct - my kind of image.

LOL - I was thinking that some thing (except at 6.5 fps) recently. I've been so engulfed in shooting birds for the last two years that I recently "rediscovered" the zen of macro shooting.

Taking each shot so deliberately certainly takes a different frame of mind :thumbsup:

Wow, Jeta...these are amazing. It's hard to believe this is your first time at macro. Gorgeous shots! I really love that 3rd shot....keep em coming!

Thanks for all of the comments. Now I walk around looking at what to shoot macro. lol

I've done a few other things, but they are not nature. Hopefully with the weather turning I'll get some more interesting things and colors.

This IS so different from what I'm used to and a nice change of pace.

Now to venture into the world of tripods..... I thought picking a macro lens was hard.

Can anyone point me the way to any good tripod threads?
