    Mother-in-law's Flowers
She asked me to come out and take some shots of her flowers ... her big thing is Irises (bearded Irises) so we made it out there yesterday and it rained the whole trip out there then cleared for pictures :D with the 50mm and tubes in tow ... here is what I got ...

#1 not sure what it is (she told me but I didn't much care :p ) 50mm with all 3 tubes - handheld - focus is off a bit due to the little wind - seemed like it was swaying 3 feet each way with the tubes

#2 the whole plant of #1 - to show the magnification

    #3 once again not sure - hand held - 50 mm w/ 3 tubes

#4 the whole plant of #3 - to show magnification

#5 I believe she called these firecracker roses ... they will be in bloom next week when we return from vegas ... will get more shots then

#6 not sure again on the flower .. i think this was just the 50mm ... barely anything done to this one ... pretty much straight out of the camera ... colors just burst on this shot

#7 - #9 her Irises - #7 is just starting to open - 8 & 9 are almost completely open ... once again next weekend they should all be in bloom ...

Thanks - any comments or advice would be greatly appreciated

You did well with the irises. FWIW, I consider the iris to be the absolute hardest flowers to shoot. They are big, bulky, and NOTHING is aligned in a plane. I stopped shooting them about 18 years ago :p

You didn't make it easy on yourself with #1. I can imagine those things swaying when your (fill in the blank) breaks wind.

comments are greatly appreciated !!! the consensus around here is the white iris being the best of the bunch also ... she said the colorful ones have yet to bloom ... will be interesting next weekend ...

Loupey - I agree with them being big and bulky ... she has alot of them budding so when they are all in bloom it should make for some nice pics if i can do them justice ....

I am just liking the chance to play with the tubes ... she sprays for insects so I don't get a chance to do any bugs out there .... but she has some flowers that bring the butterflies ... and then the bees too ... so I am hyped for them .... if I can get anything that resembles what paul got with his new toy and the bee shots he got I will be happy

Agreed. You did well with those iris. I have never even tried them just because they look so difficult to do anything with.
