Re: More Painted Turtles
Hi Cara #6 is my favorite and the reflection on #9 is super.
I know this is not the critique forum and I hope you don't mind a friendly question towards improving shots?
I was wondering, if you think a CPF would help cut some of the glare off the turtles backs, like in shot 1, although I don't see much glare in the others or from the water so you may be already using one.
If that's the case? (in my best Gilda Radner voice) Never mind... :-)

Re: More Painted Turtles
I don't think I had a polarizer on for any of these. I had a 77mm one that I got with another lens I bought on ebay, and I tried it one day really bright day and it didn't seem to do much. I think it's just a super cheap, crappy CPF though. I'm already thinking I'm going to toss it and get at least a decent low end one.
These were taken on different days and the ones with the least amount of glare were taken on overcast days. Others, like #7, I underexposed to kill the glare and then played with in post to brighten it up.

Re: More Painted Turtles
These are great. I'm really diggin #2! Love the blue color of the background in #7.

Re: More Painted Turtles
I'm with 2 and 7 also. I like the line-up with reflection on 2 and the solo turtle, shape/texture of the log and blue background on 7. - TF

Re: More Painted Turtles
I vote for #2.
They can be surprising difficult to approach so you did great.
