    More Cranes
Last night a friend told me about this pair incubating close to the road near his home. The mate in the weeds would not move while I sat watching from my car for about 5 minutes. The crane on the nest was originally scrunched down but had its head back up, looking around, after a couple minutes. I was hoping to get some shots of the 'changing of the guard' but didn't have time to wait around.

The third pic is the painting I just completed of the pair I shot the other day performing a unison call. I moved them out of the hay field they were in to a marshier setting.

Knight, Paul, and Emily, thanks for looking and commenting. The painting's not as good as I hoped, but I'm not ashamed of it either. Hopefully I'll improve enough to where I am. :D

Nice to see you're keeping yourself busy and enjoying your retirement Chunk! I wouldn't mind seeing some of those big birds up close for some photo ops, but I haven't been out looking for them yet. I saw some in the fields along Cty H going towards the Hyde Mill last year, but didn't get any good pics.
