Cecropia Moth! - no camera :(

I was reading short article about the Cecropia moth in Birds & Blooms magazine last week. I was surprised to find out that this moth lives in my area, and I was wishing that I would come across one sometime. That sometime was today!! I was a toy. As I got closer, I could see it was a huge moth, so I stopped to check it out. Of course I didn't have my camera with me. I was able to touch it and I watched it for a minute or two before continuing my run. The moth just stayed there. When I got back to that spot about 15-20 minutes later, it was gone. Maybe it took off to find a mate, or maybe it became breakfast for a hungry bird... either way, I was thrilled that I had the opportunity to see and touch the largest moth in North America!

Ya know, I have seen 1 over the years really close, but I too DIDN'T GET a picture. It was 5 feet from my door all night about 10 years ago and I had no film :mad2:

    They are amazing aren't they!

It was such a cool moth Paul! I told my GF about it and she asked me, how is it that I hear or read about something that I want to see, then I'm able to find it in the wild right away. Guess I'm just lucky.
