Male House Finch

I decided to bring my camera along out on the deck while reading a book today and this House Finch didn't seem at all bothered by my being kind of close to his feeding tube.

I do believe you have a purple finch here House finches aren't as robustly colored and have streaked flanks . Also house finches have a lighter area around the eye and greyish cheeks.

Great shot, do you have a back or side shot and how about females ?

Nice shot. You do know house finches are variable through out their range, but your's shows the field marks I mentioned
