Macros from the last couple of days.

here are a couple from today and tuesday. I hope you enjoy them!

a fly considering dinner. My only reservation about this shot is that the fly is facing away from the viewer - not sure if that works or not here.

an example of missed focus - got the hairs on it's back but not it's head. :mad2: I think it is ok anyway.

here's a couple dragons from today. Mostly garbage, but these came out OK. These were shot with my teleconverter AND close-up lens stacked - it gives me a little larger frame and little more working distance, and is still relatively good quality.

My kingdom for access to one more F/stop.

Beautiful! I think we share a passion for similar subjects.:) I think the fly shot is terrific, I like the insects directional orientation, perhaps a second tighly cropped version of this shot featuring just the fly might make for another nice pic. (I'm also currently shooting in Chicago, South Suburbs)

As for the fly, I'm not bothered by its angle. I would have liked to see more breathing room between it and the center of the flower in the background.

I really like the 2nd to last one. Really nice that you got the front pair of wings perfectly parallel to the "film" plane to keep them in focus. As for getting the entire bugger in focus - forget it! They're too big and bulky :p You'd have to shoot a wide shot then take a mega crop to do that.
