I don't disagree with you there! Some of my fondest travel memories come from the UK.

Although the food definitely has something to be desired.

    blood pudding
bangers and rashers (actually quite good, just a funny name) but was that Ireland?

Don't get me going on squirrel images. I have enough to fill this thread! :p

Here's one from the dead of summer. It was one of those stifling 95-degree days (35C) and this fellow was just hanging there. Waaaay up there. For a long time.

I really thought he died up there. But he was sleeping those 15 second naps and kept opening his eyes.

    Crazy squirrels...

Speaking of Mr. Bean (Rowan Atkinson), wasn't he in that Rat Race movie in which the line "You should've bought a squirrel" originated?
    :D

He's brilliant :D And yes, I think you're right about the squirrel line :D :D Well thought of!!!

This is what my friendly squirrel was doing to cool off during a 93 degree day. My apologies to those who have already seen this one. I need to get out and start shooting more squirrels, They sure are active lately.

Loupey, your squirrel does look dead.

Oh Loupey, now you've got me all hungry! Okay, not for the blood pudding, but the bangers and mash (sausages and mashed potato for those of you not well versed in the British cuisine)....uhm....and you actually get the best Indian food in the world in the UK, Chinese as well coming to think of it....could kill for onion bhajis and samosa right now. Lucky wombat! They've got some decent dessets too, bread and butter pudding, sherry trifle...Not cakes though, those you have to get in Denmark :)

And we have better not mention the beer...speaking of which....your lovely squirrel really looks like it could do with a pint of something or other, but maybe not lukewarm flat ale...:yikes:

Nice one, Mike :) Can't we have a squirrel sub-gallery???

By the way guys, it's nearly 3am and I've got to go and buy a flashgun tomorrow, and instead of being in my bed or sorting out my photos, I'm sitting here having fun :) and I'm starving (thanks Loupey :) )

Chinese food was quite prevalent the last time I was in Germany. Go figure.

As for beer, the best beer quality-wise (quantity-wise it was in England :p ) was in Ireland. Specifically in this one pub advertised as the highest spot in Ireland (though I tend to wonder what they actually meant) called Foxes' Den or something like that. Heated by peat bricks. Atmosphere might have had something to do with it :D

Speaking of food, here's one from earlier this summer. "For after the human race has been wiped off the face of this planet, those with thumbs shall inherit the Earth". OK, no one actually said that but it looked better in quotes.

LOL...Do keep those squirrel photos coming....so much more uplifting than McCain :)

Chinese food in Germany??? Of course we also have some here in Copenhagen but it's pretty useless... :(

Beer, yeah...much prefer the Irish stuff....unless it's cider which I really like a lot ....oh no, now I'm also getting thirsty :mad2:

Haha, all awesome shots of squirrels. I have a couple frantically running around the back yard, eating, gathering, and burying all sorts of stuff. Maybe winter is coming early:eek:

    I didn't say I wasn't going to post any more tonight :D

Fitting that just about every shot I have of them is of them eating. None of them fishing, smoking, playing poker, ...

The other is the quest for luvin' :D

Here's one posted earlier. Quite the happy excited fellow. Yes he was actively chasing another squirrel. For what purpose you can well imagine. :p

Wow...I see you guys have been busy whilst I was in bed sweetly dreaming of squirrels :)

AgingEyes and Loupey, great shots! I think the peanut-sniffing squirrel have watched too much American TV :D

Great stuff! Keep 'em coming, and Slayer, get out there and get some pic's! Wish it was me with a backyard with squirrels....but a bit hard on the 5th floor in the centre of town...At least I have lots of parks close by...

Here is my Halloween squirrel. He's enjoying the pumpkins my neighbor set out. This photo was actually taken with my old Sony Mavica 2 years ago. This was a 2.1 mp camera that used the floppy disks.

Wonderful - perfect timing to post this! I've just noticed pumpkins appearing all over the place in the last few days. Guess it's the same on your side of the pond?

Anyway, keep on posting, I need cheering up :( Having decided what to get, I was going to go and get myself a flashgun for my a700 today, but when I called up the shop, it turns out that they are completely out of stock and Sony won't get any until at least end of next week....

I'm sure Loupey will have one or two up his sleeve :)

Well, *sigh*, yeah. Unfortunately, we have a squirrel problem in our neighborhood. The red-tailed hawks haven't figured out there is a large population that needs thinned out.

They are truly clever. No matter how many baffles we use over our feeders (2 and sometimes 3) they still make it through. We tape the tops of the feeders and they still manage to unscrew them. Dastardly little hands....
