    Bird Rehab

    This is from a raptor recovery center presentation a week or two ago. It might make for an interesting ID. Maybe not...

    Needs a Orthodontist

    This eagle was born with a beak malformation that makes it hard for him to tear up wild prey.

    that's a very ugly beak and it surely wouldn't make it to that age in the wild for sure(not even through the second summer)

    Info/clues:

    Taken here north of Tucson, along the Santa Catalina Mountains, Saturday, December 9th.

    While not regal,name could imply 'presidential'.

    Here's one I took this morning in northern Colorado County Texas:

    Shot details: Canon EOS Rebel XTi w/Sigma 500mm f/4.5 EX and Kenko PRO 300 DG 1.4x TC @ f/8, ISO 400, 1/320 sec.

    I though you might be trying to get me, but that the western meadowlark that should be there. The plumage looks quite bright for december too! I guess this weird weather has nature mixed up too?

    I believe this is a Western Meadowlark. Both species can be found in this area but Eastern Meadowlark is the more abundant of the two species.

    I have seen a few eastern around Tyler, but most were westerns. This is indeed a western meadowlark, though the differences are suttle between the two.
