    Just for fun
Assorted snap shots from a recent outing. Nothing serious.

I think this is a female red-winged black bird. Not black, no red wings either. But, like some other females, they like to stick together in the same tree:

    Yep, another bald eagle (yawn):

This actually is a very common bird according to my bird guides, but not in my area somehow (heavily cropped):

Other people's doggi. Still part of the nature, right?

Definitely looks wild - probably upset that his/her owner made him/her wear that thing :)

The eagles seem to be having a serious discussion. I'm surprised nuthatches aren't that common where you are. Interesting series.

Snapshots? I just might cry for joy if I got a flying eagle as sharp as that one...

All very nice, but I really like the title for the perched eagles! :p Doggie's shooting angle is great. :)

We have nuthatches but not the white-breasted one in the photo. One birder told me the last time he saw one was in the early nineties. The appearance of this white-breasted nuthatch certainly got the local birders excited.

Well, sometimes I get lucky. The light was not ideal; kind of dark in the underwing and belly areas.

Thanks guys for looking and the comments !!

Great series! ID's are correct and though the image isn't the best for this, it's awesome to see the size comparison between first winter and adult bald eagles. A bald eagle is biggest going into the first winter and actually gets smaller as winter goes on. The need the bulk to make it through the first winter on there own.

Wonderful shots, that eagle in flight is beautiful. I'd love to get a shot like that.
