    and idea of an id?
    It self-seeded in my garden a few years ago.
    Now the woody step is approaching a trunk at the base, 2 1/2" wide.
    I'm curious, and can't wait for the flowers ;)

    The leaves remind me of Rhododendron, but the buds are wrong.
