Icicle Bells
Attachment 87210
Whenever we get three or more days of below freezing weather, a section of this tidal creek develops wonderful, natural ice sculptures. Here is a shot of the creek taken at low tide. You can see the high tide mark where it's left a line of sheet ice hanging amongst the trees.
Attachment 87209
Each time the tide comes in and goes out, it leaves a layer of ice on the branches hanging over the water. The splashing of rougher water also adds layers of ice, until they build up into fascinating sculptures.

Re: Icicle Bells
Very nice! I agree that first photo is a beauty. Thanks for the description because it made a big difference for holding my interest and increasing my curiosity. I think the last photo may actually be the best but the blown out snow is holding it back. I don't know how you shot it but if you can re-process it to get some detail in the snow I think it could be an excellent abstract nature photo. The water and ice are beautiful but it loses me when my eye hits the snow :)

Re: Icicle Bells
Thanks for commenting, randimal and Photo John! And thank you, John for pointing out the problem with the snow. I'm pretty sure that happened in post processing, but I was so focused on the water and ice that I never even noticed the snow. I will go back and check the original.
