Wink Some Shots From The Non-Birder

As I was driving Down East to evaluate a lot, I see a group of egrets in the tidal flats of a marsh. So I stopped and took a few photo's.

As I was watching the egrets, a group of Ibis flew by. I only got one shot of them.

BTW, I saw a pair of American Bittern's on a small pond in Newport this morning! I was so psyched!

Wink More Shots From The Non-Birder

So, after the Ibis's flew by, I switch my D200 to continuous low, and then a Great Blue Heron obliged me by flying out in front of me.

Not a bad day's work for a non-birder. (If I do say so myself)

    :-D

First shot is full frame, just reduced for PR.

Second shot is a crop of the GBH.

    Third is full frame.

    Fourth is cropped.

Nothing special about these shots, I was just happy to get them.

Hey Speed, taking bird pics is addictive. Birds are one of my biggest subjects now and it's all Paul's fault! Nice shots BTW and it's good to see that D200 is getting a good workout.

Yeah, I know. I've already got about 100 shots of hummingbirds. Need to go through them and pick a couple of decent ones to post.

I am fortunate to live in a coastal county, so I get a lot of shorebirds/waterfowl, as well as the usual songbirds. It keeps the shutter on the D200 from getting rusty.

    ;-)

    Thanks for the comments Mike!

Dude, If Iwas standing next to you with binos..... I could ID 25 species there I bet.....easily!

100 hummer images huh? I was at a house today looking at a pruning job..... OMG!!!! They had 6 hummingbird feeders and I could HEAR the rubythroated before I walked to the porch, mind you the feeders were in the back yard They had to have 30 feeding, which means they had double that in the area!!!! I have never seen anywhere close to that number of rubythroated EVER! 6 is a great number to have!

I have no doubt that you could. I didn't even mention the various gulls I saw. Here's a crop of one of my shots from yesterday. It wasn't my steadiest shot, which is why I didn't post it. But I'm sure you can ID the dark bird on the left.

Dawn has two hummingbird feeders up, and we have four ruby throated (two males and two females) coming to them. Dawn's grandmother has about six hummingbird feeders at her house, and she'll have a dozen or more buzzing about at any given time. I've stood by the back door and heard them buzzing by my head. It is wild.
