    Hornet and the tubes
Yeah, it's an overhead with kinda harsh light. I would have loved a straight on shot, but wasn't about to play with this thing much.
70mm with 25mm tube, about 5 inches away from the wasp.

Oh yeah, and a lil bird poo for a splash of color :p

Come on, Payn - I know you had that poo in there on purpose so that you can get a white balance reference. Very forward-thinking of you :)

Yeah the lighting is kinda harsh for this one but if you are testing the combo for sharpness, I think you got a good grade. The detail across its back and along the leaf edge is very sharp (too sharp?).

5" seems kinda close - do you recall if you had your lens at the close focusing end or towards infinity? With almost a 1:3 extension to focal length ratio, I'm guessing you were pretty close to as close as you can get?

Too sharp? lol, I didn't do anything to this file, this is the same lens that always gets a sharpness comment from you, and it's my favorite. I am estimating about 5inches. It could be more, as for the focus, I just put the tube on, switched to manual focus, and use the zoom ring to focus.

If I could just start getting up at the right time of day. OR, if you'd like to donate to my ring flash fund... :D

Thanks for the input/questions, I can make good use of them next time.

Well in that case, this lens has become your workhorse macro lens (along with that tube  )

Sorry I can't contribute to your fund. I've got several "funds" up and running at the moment myself.
