Homely eagle
I assume this eagle is about 2 years old. I believe it's the first one I've seen that wasn't either an adult in full plumage or a completely brown juvenile. They sure aren't real pretty, at this stage of their lives. I did see the mature one too, but the sun was always behind him. On this shot, it was at more of a 90 degree angle to the sun, which was diffused by thin clouds, at the time. I think it would have turned out much better had the lighting been from the right direction.
It seems like all the birds I see at the park, are always on the SW side of the park, which doesn't work well in the afternoon. I'll head back in the morning and see how that works out. Although, 42 degrees sure felt good this afternoon.

Re: Homely eagle
This is great did you edit this it seems slightly over sharpened, It may just be the way the photo is though.

Re: Homely eagle
Um, maybe tone down the PP sharpening slightly... unless there are "haloed eagles" in your area. That would be interesting to see in real-life, though. :p
Good shot overall, the angle is great. :)

Re: Homely eagle
Actually, our eagles are pretty angelic. :D I am aware of the over sharpening. If I would have had some decent light on him, it wouldn't have been necessary. Oh well, it's really not much of a keeper anyway. It's just that, this is the first I've shot with this coloration. But, with the head that dark to begin with, it's tough to get much detail. Maybe the light will be in my favor tomorrow.

Re: Homely eagle
Yeah the sharpness isn't perfect but it sure is a good angle.
He looks like he just came back from the war. A little beat up, a little dirty and still ready to kick more buttt if asked.
I like it.
