Help with Bird Identification

I was born and raised in Wyoming. And the state bird is the Meadowlark. With that said I know this bird looks like a Meadowlark, but I also know its a different bird. In all my years in Wyoming I have never seen one until 10 days ago.

So my question to you guys who really know birds, what's the name of this bird?

And it looked to be almost the size of a Quail.

Sorry, I'm not one to know, but I'll suggest that it's an immature bird, not fully colored yet. I don't really understand the difference between Eastern and Western meadowlarks, but I know that many of the birds here in my area don't show full adult colors for maybe a year.
