I went out after work to try to call in some turkeys. After sitting in one spot for 2 hours, I was finally able to call this one in. He walked right up to my decoys to check them out, but he never did strut for me. I don't think the weather, and the dirty garage are going to allow me to get back out for the rest of the week... I didn't realize how colorfull their feathers are, but with the right light hitting them, they look like a rainbow.

I've never seen breast feathers rendered so nicely on a turkey. Great job.

Thanks Loupey. I wish I wouldn't have cut his foot off in this pic, but I still like the colors. I'll post some more of this guy when I get home tonight.

me and the wife did make the trip out your way on the 10th as we planned ... i am surprised that you don't shoot more of these with all the ones we seen out your way ...

we didn't make it to your spots as we went to the mississippi and took 35 north to la crosse ... got some nice pics and need to pp and post them yet ...

Ben, I will be trying to get more pics of these birds, this spring. There are a ton of them around, but they are hard to get close to. Now that they are gobbling, I can call them in close enough for some photos. I was hoping he would strut and "pose" for a photo, but he didn't. Of course I did see a strutting tom on my way home from taking this photo.

An afternoon drive along Great River Road (35) is a great way to spend a day! Looking forward to seeing some pics from your trip.
