    I often like the less than perfect blooms better the the perfect ones.

    This is a Yellow Salsify according to the Audubon guide, which we always called goatsbeard because of their fluffy seedheads when we treated them as weeds on the farm. They are introduced from Europe.Here are a few more shots. Do you see them out east?
    The blossom shown here is a lot less frazzled than the first. :D

    We have a similiar WEED (though in texas it's sold as a flower so my mother told me) called a dandilion

    We have plenty of those around here too. One difference is that the goatsbeard seedhead is about 3 or 4 inches in diameter. Here are some dandies for comparison.
