    Finches....

Okay, I am new to this forum, as some of you know...thought I would try and expand my photography abilities..... I am relatively new to the digital world and been focusing on the sports photography thing. But thought since you guys have such BEAUTIFUL photos here, I thought I would give it a shot.

I shot these through the screen this morning where the feeder is. So you can see if you look closely the screen in one or two of them....like I said...I have a lot to learn...and I know you guys can teach me....

    Thanks for all your help....

    Re: Finches....

simple trick that I use to get the screens out of the shot..... is to remove the screens from the window prior to shooting =P (pardon the sarcasm) the only thing wrong with these shots really IS the screen.

The second shot you managed very well to keep both birds in focus and in the third shot (the one I like the most) you changed the focus point to the far bird and the change in the DOF makes it a far more interesting shot IMHO.

Nice work. I have found that shooting wildlife with the natural light available has made me a better sports shooter for outdoor sports like baseball and Auto Racing. With Nature shooting you learn to become more adaptable and carry less gear. On the flip side I am sure there's lots you could teach me about shooting sports indoors.

    Re: Finches....

I really like the last image in the original post. The focus, lighting, and background really spotlight the finch on the right (the right one btw).

    You're learning real quick!

practice, practice, practice and patience, patience, patience is the way to learn wildlife photography. Like any other subject matter... knowing yoursubject helps a great deal.

For instance, but watch the birds as they com,e to the feeder. You will soon recognise that they go from hear to there and like this perch .

Thanks again for the kind comments....

Back to work today, so no chance of getting out and seeing what I can find....

There is a pond close by, might check that out this weekend, and see what is hanging out there.....????
