Favourite Image of 2011

2011 has been a crazy year of bird photography for me. With trips to Ecuador, Costa Rica, All over BC, Newfoundland and Churchill I definitely racked up some air miles. It is really hard to pick ONE favourite from this year. But if I had to I think I would choose this image from Costa Rica of a Violet-crowned Woodnymph Hummingbird emerging from a small stream in the forest. I had dreamed of taking a photo like this for a long time and it was a great thrill to execute my vision.

Beautiful shot!
I have trouble picking one favorite of anything, but this shot got the most Flickr views in 2011 and I do like it so I'll say this is my favorite! :)

My husband, my dad and I were just walking around Buttertubs Marsh when we came across this little family, right at eye level in the bushes beside the trail.

I got a lot of good images this summer, hard to narrow it to just one. I was trying to pick the 5 best earlier this week, but I keep coming back to this one
