    Solitary Sandpiper

    I forgot about this series from a little while back (before my wetlands dried completely).

    It was hard catching it with food still in its beak as it would catch and immediately gulp the fish so fast. Very different than catching herons in the act.


    See that weird prey in #2? I can't recall any species with a white body and red eyes like that.

    Then it caught this tadpole and proceeded to toy with it - like it didn't know what to do with it.

    I was hoping to get a mouth-stuffing shot but it let it go (you can see it swimming away in #2).


    That last one is one of those creepy crawly "things" that it caught - the kind that makes me ponder the awesome mysteries of nature. Specifically, "WHAT the hell?!"
