    Re: My Fish

Congratulations on the new camera Amber  I've read nothing but good reviews on the Sony A100, can't wait to see more images taken with that camera.

And I love discuses! They are one fish that I've never attempted to keep. Are those fry in the tank???

    Re: My Fish

Thanks Paul I've had discus fry before, but those are not... Those are brine shrimp.. food.. lol

I am going to be getting in a shipment of about 8 discus pretty soon. Just waiting for my supplier to be ready. I am excited! That one I picked up the other day. Hes a blue snake skin. About 4-4.5 inches nose to tail. Right now hes in my 55 gallon, but will be getting moved to my 125 gallon later on.

    Re: My Fish

I remember in your introductory thread how much of an avid "aquarist" (I'm sure that there is a more official term - it's just too late for me to think and the shot of Wild Turkey is starting to get to my head ) you are.

But a 125 gallon tank?! I had a 55 gallon too but even that was too much work.

LOL You think I am bad.. you should visit my fish forums! Did you know people add entire rooms onto their houses, just for their fish? They call em their fish rooms. lol My friend in Cali has 6 tanks running. I only have 3. lol The 55 is in my bedroom and the 125 is in the living room and the 20 is in the spare room. :aureola:

    Re: My Fish

The larger the tank the less work it is actually. Since the largest part of maintaining a tank is the water chemistry look at it this way Loupey.... which is more stable? A puddle or a lake.

The more water you have the less likely that you are going to change the water chemistry in a large enough % to cause injury. As for algae scrubbing.. hey thats a 10 min job if you keep up on it regularly.. otherwise it can become a HUGE job if ya don't.

Nice Discus shots.. Shooting fish is such a hard thing to do. Dealing with the reflections off the tank and then worrying about the lighting.. and lastly hoping that your subject will sit still long enough for a decent shot. You've done a great job Amber. Keep it up.

    Re: My Fish

    Agreed, Jaedon

I used to have 2 tanks running at any given time (20 and 55 gallon usually). As I liked to keep predatory fish (piranhas or oscars) in the main tank, I had the smaller one for the prey (feeder goldfish or guppies). Feeding the fish or feeding the fish that feed the bigger fish takes more time than I am able to provide. Makes leaving for an extended trip a hassle for me

Is there a forum for every hobby ? This is the first and only forum that I have been a member. I'm no computer newbie, but I'm still trying to figure out the purpose of blogs
