    Elephants

Hi all - I'm new to the forum and have only made a few posts so far. Here are a few elephant photos that I took a couple of months ago. They certainly wont come anywhere the quality of the other work I have seen on here so far but I hope to improve as I go along Thanks for looking.

Oh my goodness these look HUGE! You've got some nice shots. The only elephants I've ever seen were either in the zoo or the circus and they were all the same color gray.

Great series. Are the colors on the last one just different mud? - TF

    Re: Elephants

I like your second shot best.
OldClicker asked the same question I have. Is it from the mud/dirt they were enjoying?

    Re: Elephants

Thanks for the comments - very much appreciated These were taken in September / Oct this year in Tsavo East National Park which is well known locally for it's 'red' elephants - the soil has very high concentration of iron oxide. These were shot at a waterhole and a herd of elephants had just arrived hence some are still red and some have started applying large amounts of mud to keep cool

It's great to see images from the "wild".

It's even better when the subjects are doing something interesting like this. The last image is wonderful.

I really don't know what to say.... but thank you so much. It's really very encouraging I'll have to go on safari again soon and take some more and at least elephants don't move around as much as birds

    Re: Elephants

Thanks I wish it was easier... I live two away from where these photos were taken and, if I'm lucky, get there once or twice a year (I was back there in October but due to the drought there were almost no birds around and dead animals everywhere...)
