Oh wow, Amber...beautiful shot! Very pretty fish...

As for critique, I think the only thing I would offer for a suggestion would be to experiment with cropping a bit...maybe crop a bit off the left so it's not smack dab in the center. But the colors are great, and it looks pretty sharp to me.

Thanks Almo, its not really a pigeon blood tho. Its a cross with a pigeon blood base. So there is pigeon blood in the line, which allows for that peppering, but its technically not a PB. The strain is called "Electric Dream".

Ahhh, I see. Thanks for clearing that up. I have not heard of that strain before. My background is in rift lake cichlids, so my knowledge of new world species is pretty basic.

At any rate, that is a great shot, and a beautiful fish!

Yeah.. discus strains are crazy and breeders are constantly trying to come up with new crosses. They are currently working on a purple/lavender discus and an all black discus. Purple/lavender.. ok.. but ALL black? This seems odd to me. When a discus is sick.. it goes black. Discus are known for their beautiful colors.. why make one that is black? Personally, I dont think that strain will go very far.. if they achieve it.

Hey.. I will be at the ACA this year. Its in July I believe in Sacramento California. I cannot wait!!

    Wow!

I would love to go to the ACA. I am trying to plan for '08 in Atlanta. I live in North Fla so that is about my best shot. I keep telling Pam Chin that i am gonna come and give her a bear hug...

All black Discus..... That seems odd to me, but then I am not much into designer fish anyway. I suppose if it was a healthy strain with good genes then it wouldn't be a "bad" thing, but it's certainly not a necessary thing to do. It can't be any worse than line breeding Malawi Peacocks into unnaturaly red monstrosities.

Yeah.. ACA will be awesome. I think I said it but I cannot wait! lol I live in S. Virginia. But I have a friend who lives out in Cali near Sac and I am going to stay with her for four days. It will be my first time ever away from my children. :cryin: lol They will turn 2 and 5 just before the ACA. It'll be really hard to be away from them. But ACA will be awesome lol

lol on the peacocks. I tried to get into Africans when I took my discus break this past year. I had some L. Meleagris and some Gold Head Compressiceps. (Got fry off the comps too) But.. they are just not the same I have to say tho, that I do love the peacocks. They are very cool looking! Probably my fave afry's.
